We staffing a fulltime position as a Director of Information Technology for a fast-growing company in Washington, DC.  This is a new position with a 100 employee firm with growth expectations.  You will work closely with the Managing Director, Business Operations, to develop IT strategy for the firm and manages its implementation.  The individual works closely with management and internal stakeholders to identify business needs and the technology to support them.  Maintains existing technology and makes recommendations for additional or replacement tools.  Ensures security of systems and stays abreast of the latest in technology challenges and solutions.

Duties include:

  • In partnership with Managing Director, Business Operations, helps to develop IT Strategic Roadmap for the firm, articulating the firm’s IT vision in alignment with strategic plan and priorities.  Continuously assesses firm’s IT infrastructure and makes recommendations for new technology solutions (computer and information systems, security, communication systems).
  • Monitors performance of IT systems and troubleshoots hardware and software issues.
  • In partnership with internal Technology Taskforce, consults stakeholders across the entire firm to identify business and technology needs to optimize the use of information technology.
  • In partnership with Managing Director, recommends and helps select IT and phone vendor.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
  • Develops and manages equipment replacement and upgrade schedule for all staff.
  • Under oversight of Managing Director, Business Operations, oversees and manages all technology projects in alignment with firm’s strategic goals.
  • Develops and implements business continuity protocols to minimize disruption to business operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss.
  • Facilitates security audits in order to identify security vulnerabilities and develops strategic solutions for their elimination.
  • In partnership with Managing Director, Business Operations, manages, and tracks the IT department's annual budget.
  • Creates processes and standards for selection, implementation, and support of systems and IT vendors.
  • Directs the sourcing and implementation of new software and hardware.
  • Identifies future challenges in the IT landscape and develops mitigation strategies.
  • Manages and oversees all stages of the development lifecycle for new technology projects.

 

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, equivalent technical school training, with 5 years related work experience in IT operations.  Relevant IT certifications desired.
  • Demonstrated experience managing aspects of IT functions in an organization and developing IT strategy, ideally leading the IT function of an organization.
  • Experience with or foundational understanding of project planning and management, including a high degree of interaction with senior stakeholders.  Ability to effectively manage multiple and changing priorities.
  • Strong analytical skills and sound business judgement, as well as demonstrated solutions orientation. 
  • Demonstrated innovation and ability to think strategically and creatively to solve problems, with commitment to continuous learning and growth.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Must possess good judgment and have the ability to respond and effectively handle multiple and changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, teamwork, and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively presenting and training others on technology systems and tools, particularly non-technical staff.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Adept at collaborating with diverse internal teams, with commitment to outstanding client service. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, etc.) required and familiarity with Salesforce and Deltek preferred
