Calibration Technician, Leesburg, VA
We are staffing a fulltime position as a Calibration Technician for an established company.
Duties include:
This person will support engineering of in-house calibration laboratory for industrial UV radiometers that solve customer problems in the UV curing, germicidal and printing markets. Develop calibration systems and processes of existing and new products. Work within a small technical team to design, build and quantify the best solutions for customers. Work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing to develop calibration fixtures and processes while maintaining day-to-day operation of calibration laboratory. Balance daily demands from customer request with continuous improvement and development of calibration processes and equipment. Maintain (preventive maintenance, life cycle, specify replacement) equipment and work with calibration engineers to ensure the laboratory and processes are up to EIT2.0 quality standards.
Requirements include:

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent. Certificate or Associates / Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline (testing, engineering, or sciences) is a plus. 
  • At least 3-6 years of experience in a precision testing or calibration position.
  • Basic computer and testing protocol experience
  • Must be comfortable working in an office, electronic lab, and UV optics lab.
  • Light manufacturing environment experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving, and analytical skills. Ability to adapt quickly from process-driven environment to R&D (working with unknowns) environment.
  • Able to use electronic test equipment (digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and programmable power supplies) and custom software without supervision.
  • Self-directed, detail-oriented work ethic able to work independently as well as in a team environment. Familiarity with applicable ISO processes. Excellent analytical skills.
  • Proficient in general computer skills, including MS Word, Excel Outlook.

Desired skills include:

  • 7+ years of experience
  • Basic electronics/optics troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with optics (lenses, filters), material properties (thermal/optical properties), computer controlled equipment/interfacing
  • Experience or familiarity with any of the following is a strong plus: CAD design tools. Calibration of electronic and/or optical measurement equipment. Measurement uncertainty and/or error propagation. Data collection, analysis and statistical techniques. Good writing skills, particularly for writing test procedures. Quality standards ISO 9001:2015, ISO 17025.
